Thukpa is a Tibetan boiled noodle soup that is very popular in every restaurant and in street stalls in Nepal or all over the world. It is usually made with lots of shredded chicken meat, cabbage, carrots, onions, mushrooms and etc. that vary from place to place. 

In Nepal, thukpa is another popular dish after momo and chowmein, which is easily available in local eateries or restaurant corner in town. This dish is especially famous for college students as it is a quick and tasty snack easily available in the canteen.

Thukpa is a very easy and quick recipe that you can make at your own home and enjoy with your family and friends. The spices mixed in the dish and the aroma makes the dish flavorful. Especially during winter or rainy season, this delicious and spicy thukpa keeps your body warm. You can make this dish as spicy as you can.

Ingredients

  • 250 g dried or egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Finely shredded cabbage and carrots
  • 1 chopped onion and one spring onions
  • Chicken meat around 50g (as per your need) or sausage
  • 1 finely chopped capsicum 
  • 2 green chili
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • Chili powder (as per your preference)
  • Salt
  • Ajinomoto
  • Chopped coriander

How to make chicken sausage thukpa

Boiling Process:

1: First of all, let’s boil the noodle. Take a wider pot and boil 1.5 liters of water( for one packet)

2: Add two tablespoon of cooking oil so that noodles won’t get sticky

3: Add one packet of noodle and let it boil for 5 minutes, also stir it properly throughout the process

4. Now put the noodle in a strainer for 4-5 minutes to separate all leftover water from it

5. After this add some cooking oil over the noodle and stir it well

6. Now it’s ready to fry

Thukpa Process:

1: Take a pot and heat up 2 tbsp oil for a few minutes

2: Add finely shredded chicken meat or sausage and let it fry for 2 minutes. Here I will be using chicken sausages.

3: Add some onions and green chili’s, then mix it thoroughly

4: Then add cabbage, carrots, and capsicum (optional) altogether

5: Add 1 tbsp of plain flour and then mix it properly

6: Add some salt and chili powder along with a pinch of Ajinomoto

7: Add a glass of water and mix everything then let it boil for a minute

8: Add handful of noodle and then leave it for 4-5 minutes in medium flame

9: Finally add some spring onions and coriander on top

10. Squeeze some lemon on top and enjoy delicious chicken thukpa
