Rajma Curry (Red kidney bean) is one of the most popular vegetarian dish from Nepali or Indian cuisine. It contains lots of gravy which is usually served with rice or roti. Mostly famous in parties, buffet dinner. Rajma is prepared with onion, garlic, tomatoes and many spices and is one of the staple foods in Nepal.

Ingredients for Rajma Curry

  1. Two cups red kidney beans
  2. One finely chopped onion
  3. Two finely chopped tomatoes
  4. Ginger-garlic paste
  5. Four-Five tablespoons oil
  6. Two dry red chili
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Half tablespoon turmeric powder
  9. Half tablespoon cumin seeds and powder
  10. Chili powder as per your preference
  11. Garam Masala
  12. Black Pepper
  13. Chopped Coriander

How to make rajma curry

1: First of all soak 2 cups of red kidney beans overnight

2: Take a pressure cooker and add some water and beans along with some salt and let it cook for 5 whistles in medium flame.

3: Then drain the beans and keep it aside for some time

4: Take a wider pan and heat 5 tablespoons of oil 

5: Add some cumin seeds and red dry chili and after that add finely chopped onion and stir it properly until it turns light brown color

6: Add chopped tomatoes with half tbsp of turmeric and salt as per your preference

7:Then add cumin powder, garam masala, black pepper and chili powder along with 2 tbsp of ginger-garlic paste

8: After this, add the boiled red kidney beans

9:Mix everything properly, add 2 cups of water and then close the lid on medium flame for 8-10 minutes

10: At last garnish it with fresh chopped coriander
